Dave Matthews Band co-founder continues solo career

PRESS RELEASE ARCHIVE

Peter GriesarNew York– January 26, 2001, Singer/songwriter Peter Griesar, a founding member of the Dave Matthews Band, has just signed a multi-year management agreement with Flood Zone Entertainment, headquartered in New York City.

Mason Wyatt, founder and president of Flood Zone Entertainment announced the agreement today saying that the company will, "Use our talented and veteran management team combined with our strong A&R relationships to help secure a major recording contract for this very gifted and deserving artist." Terms of the agreement were not immediately disclosed.

Griesar is a founding member and the original keyboardist for the Dave Matthews Band, and co-writer of the Grammy Award winning "So Much To Say". He parted ways with band amicably in 1993 to pursue a solo career and to continue developing his unique style of music. In 1995 Peter joined Virgin recording artist Lauren Hoffman on tour to promote her first album, "meggido". In 1998, he released a solo album–the critically acclaimed, "Disposable Love Songs". The new millennium heralded the self-release of an ambitious 4 song EP titled "From The Supertanker Dude With The Zero Obsession" currently available online at www.musictoday.com

Reached earlier at his home in Charlottesville, VA. Griesar announced, "I’m thrilled to be part of this extraordinary team of music professionals. Flood Zone has a long history of promoting, showcasing and developing some very talented artists and I’ve known their management team for many years. I’m excited to have them working behind me."

J. Tayloe Emery, vice president of artist development at Flood Zone, agreed that Griesar is at a focal point in his career. "Peter is a very talented musician, and he is certainly the sharpest songwriter I’ve seen in years. From his early days with Dave Matthews to the present, Peter has never stopped creating. His current work is much more developed and his lyrics show a real maturity and an introspection of life and love’s labour lost. There’s a darker, more surreal edge, but always with that great pop sensibility. Record labels are obviously noticing his keen talents–simply put, Peter writes, arranges and creates incredibly beautiful music. It’s our job to make sure that the rest of the world gets tuned in."
